We celebrate April Fool's Day at UMDR
Medium Term and Rehabilitation Unit
Last Friday, April 1st, we celebrated the day of Lies at UMDR.

To mark this day we created a mural allusive to the day with some lies suggested by our users. After the creation of the mural we provided a moment of sharing between users where we explained why we celebrate this day.

This day originated in France, in the 16th century. The New Year was celebrated on March 25th (the date that marked the arrival of spring) and the celebrations lasted until April 1st. With the introduction of the Gregorian calendar, King Charles IX of France determined that the New Year would be celebrated on January 1st.

Some French resisted this change and began to ridicule April 1st by playing tricks, telling lies, sending weird gifts, and invitations to parties that didn't exist.

As time went by, the joke spread to other European countries and, later, to other continents. Around here, we still keep to the calendar.

Cheers!
